An innovative manual sandbagging system
What is the triKIT?
The triKIT is a system to safely and effectively fill sand bags consistently wherever it is needed.
It is composed of three elements:
• The Sand Bag Filler (SBF)
• The Cart (TC)
• The One Man Stand (OMS)
Each of these elements contribute to the utility and versatility of the triKIT as a system that fills 6 bags at a time – all with the same amount of sand.
Why is this such an important system?
Sandbagging is a very common task undertaken by SES members, Armed Forces, Council Workers and Contractors.
The issues that plague the manual filling process are clearly evident (finger, wrist and forearm injuries, back strain, fatigue and low productivity). A new technique was sought to address these issues.
Also previous techniques have resulted in a significant variation in the volume of each bag fill, no matter how sophisticated they have been. This new unit addresses the multiple issues that plague traditional sandbag filling techniques. An added benefit is that it is significantly more productive than any earlier manual technique.
